He has personally closed over $250 million in residential mortgage loans, including government (FHA & VA) and Jumbo loans. Being able to discuss complex mortgage solutions in terms clients easily understand is one of Steve’s strengths. 

Steve grew up in Charlottesville, VA and graduated from the University of Virginia. After college he worked for a real estate developer in Virginia building the state’s first aviation community before moving to Durham, North Carolina in the early 1990’s. He started working as a mortgage loan officer with First Horizon/Sunbelt Mortgage and after receiving an M.B.A. from UNC’s Kenan Flagler School of Business in 2003, became a Regional VP for American Express Bank educating financial advisors about mortgage strategies and solutions. Missing the satisfaction and energy of mortgage banking and taking advantage of a corporate spin off (Ameriprise Financial) Steve got back to local, residential mortgage banking a few years ago and I couldn’t be happier at Benchmark Mortgage!
